You would be hard pressed to find a better flier in the 25th round. A Yankee starter? I would pick him any day over the likes of Jeff Weaver that is for sure.

His rehab went really well. He wanted to pitch late in the second half of the season last year but they did let him.

Watch him in ST. If his velocity is where it was then watch out for the sleeper of the year.......

Even if he isn't what he was two years ago, he is still good for 12-15 wins with that line up.

Didn't he win 20 2 years ago for a terrible Cubs team? I think that he's better then he's ever been given credit for. I'm with Trevisc on this one. I think that Lieber is coming back in a big way.

He should have never gone 20-6 with a 3.80 era. He was 16th in run support with 5.61 runs per 9. He pulled a Rick Helling. Wood that year had a 3.36 era and won 12.

Wood has always found ways to pitch just good enough to lose. Even last year only managed 14 Ws and a 14-11 record.

Wood is 59-41, a .590 career win %. The Cubs win % those years was .463. So Wood is .127 over his team. That's real good. Maybe he should have won more last year, who knows. But his 4.61 runs per 9, were a whole run less then what Lieber got when he won 20.

I've always thought Lieber was very good underrated pitcher...however I've found through experience to avoid guys coming off major surgery. Let someone else take the chance.

In round 24 or 25 it is not a bad gamble. There is hardly anyone left that iis healthy that is even worth considering. The Rodrigo Lopez types are not going to do much for anyone.
