Only if the WSox were content to concede this year and trade Maggs for prospects. They were talking with the Red Sox about Nomar before if the Arod deal went through. That is a long way down from Nomar, but you never know. I think it is pretty unlikely. Besides, with Beltran and Maggs both becoming free agents after this season and with the liklihood of you competing this season very slim, I would think you would be better off just waiting for the next top FA OF to hit the market and then bid enough to get him. Maggs or Beltran next season for only cash would be a far better approach, IMO.
I haven't heard anything on an Ordonez to the Mets rumor.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....

Talent-wise, I would agree. For most other reasons, I would disagree. Maggs is more expensive for them and, if they want to pare payroll, they would probably move him first. Also, Maggs could definitely get more in a trade than Lee.

trev.......If your statement read as above, then it probably would be correct.
I will clean this up a bit for the Cafe but while I understand them wanting to be cautious, they have a habit of upsetting the fans lately be peeing on their head and telling them it's raining.
I think we can chalk this up to fiction. The Mets don't expect to contend this year. They seem comitted to building from within. I wouldn't be surprised to see them sign a free agent, but I don't think that they'll be trading off any talent for a one-year rental. It doesn't make any sense.
