Before I get into everything here is my team...

12 team, H2H, classic 5x5, 21 team roster (plus 1 DL spot)

C - Victor Martinez
1B - Derrek Lee
2B - Robinson Cano
3B - David Wright
SS - Jose Reyes
OF - Carlos Lee
OF - Hideki Matsui
OF - Torii Hunter
Util - Travis Hafner
B - Julio Lugo
B - Dan Uggla (might release soon to use as spot starter spot)

SP - John Lackey
SP - Rich Harden
SP - Barry Zito
SP - Bronson Arroyo
SP - Jered Weaver
SP - Dave Bush
SP - Chuck James
SP - Jason Schmidt (DL)

RP - JJ Putz
RP - Huston Street
RP - Jason Frasor

Basically my drafting strategy was to wait until the 8th round or so to draft pitchers. Since the draft I've upgraded a bit through trades (picked John Maine off of waivers and traded him for Harden) through the wire (Weaver and Schmidt were both dropped because of injuries). I think my pitching staff as it stands is ok but will it be enough to compete over the year? Any particular pitchers I should trade who are overvalued right now? Which ones are the ones I should hang onto? Should I give up a little hitting in order to improve my pitching? Any pitchers I should be trying to buy low on and if so with what?

Here are some of the arms available as FAs:

Orlando Hernendez
Zack Greinke
Josh Johnson
John Garland
Kevin Millwood
Jose Contreras
Kelvim Escobar
Cliff Lee
Scott Olsen
Anibal Sanchez
Jeremy Sowers
Zach Duke
Greg Maddux
Jason Jennings
Mark Hendrickson
James Shields
Tim Wakefield
Shawn Hill
Randy Wolf
Jason Hirsh
Joe Blanton
John Lieber
Matt Belisle
Octavio Dotel
Fernando Cabrera
Matt Capps
Brad Lidge
Joakim Soria
Mike Gonzalez

Any help would be much appreciated and I will be sure to return the favor. Thanks.

I'd say you are just getting a slow start, under producing SP's.

I'm not a huge fan of Zito or Schmidt, but they consistently put up numbers. I like lackey, Arroyo and Weaver.

I don't see much else out there on the WW, but look for guys like Lincecum, Bailey and Hughes as they come up. Lincecum has been compared to Felix Hernandez, Bailey could easily be the ace of the Reds by the Break and Hughes is one of the most highly touted (along with bailey) pitchers in the league. I'd watch out on hughes pitching in the AL East though.

If someone starts to get hot(Kip Wells at the beginning of the season, Gorzelanny) pick em up for James or Bush. You might look in to trying to trade Lugo for a good starter and trying to pick up someone like JJ Hardy on WW.

thanks for the reply. your batting lineup is great...i think if you want to strengthen that pitching staff of yours, you should trade away one of your OF. you can pick up an OF from WW to use as your third OF.

as for the WW pitchers...
im liking maddux, lee, Greinke, and hernandez
im a little suprised that hernandez and greinke are still available in your league. cliff lee should be back in the lineup by next week, and maddux has always been dependable, however his K's are low

Sorry to take so long to get back to you...

I like Shields and Olsen for their K potential, though Uggla might be worth hanging onto. What about dropping Lugo for one of them?

I like Shields, El Duque and Maddux as spot starters. See if there's anyone looking to sell low on a couople of slow starters.

I think Shields is a good speculative pickup. You might think about dropping James for him.
