I was a Kouz doubter from the start. IMO, a lot of those minor league numbers were stacked up while he was playing as an older more experienced players vs. younger competition. Couple that with his injury history (early back injuries on 3B is killer) and I was avoiding him before the season began.

He supposedly had very high PECOTA ratings but was missing from Baseball America'a top 100 prospect list. Given the terrible start, I wonder if BA was right to exclude him.

10/19 with 8 RBI in his past 6 games with HRs in each of his last 2. Anybody buying? It looks like he might be turning a corner.

Guys have hot streaks. What's to talk about? From my perspective, he's still a guy who's not shown an ability to hit major league pitching on a consistent basis. If you are going to pick up players every time they have a 2 week hot streak, you are constantly chasing your tail.

While it's true that Kouzmanoff constantly plays younger competition, it's also true that he lost a couple years of his development to injury and his development time isn't any longer than a typical prospect. My concern with his is his lack of extra base power, he was basically a very good singles hitter with occasional power who doesn't draw walks in the minors. And I wasn't too sure how that'll translate to the majors, oh well, traded him in a package for Rios preseason, not my problem. I still think he can hit .280 with at least 15 HR power in the majors, if with bad OBP numbers.

That's true, but for those of us who are in deep mixed and only leagues that need to stay ahead of the curve, it's good to identify players like Kouzmanoff as guys who might have needed an adjustment period before finally living up to their very good minor league numbers.

KK is a hot lead at this point, as he was on many people's draft radars entering the season.
