Years ago, I would have agreed. Steinbrenner is much more patient now and defers to his baseball people. Working against Torre is the fact that Swindall is now out of the picture. Torre isn't going anywhere.
I don't like the panic moves that Torre has made so far.
Yeah he is so patient that he brought up a 20 yo kid who is not ready.
Steinbrenner made that move?? Who would you have rather they brought up??

Absolutely that was George's decision.

What about the other question?? Who would you have brought up that was a better option at this point??

Anyone else but a 20 yo who needs more experience and also is the best pitching prospect since I can recall.

I'll say one thing- it's not Joe Torre's fault the Yankees have the worst bullpen and rotation in the AL. He needs some pitchers before he can do anything with this team, even with the powerful offense.

It all starts and ends with the rotation. When healthy, they will go deeper into the games and allow him to use the bullpen better. I think that their pen will be fine.

Clippard.
Maybe DeSalvo.
Clippard is just as young as Hughes (I think) and DeSalvo is not good enough to pitch in the majors at this point.
Make Hughes the fifth starter and watch his innings. He should be fine.

Here's the problem with Joe Torre's bullpen managing... the Yankees offense is too good to easily manage a bullpen...
Most team,s if they are down 6-0 in the 5th innings, just waste their worst 2 bullpen pitchers for the last 5 innnings and call it a day. Thing is, with the Yankkes, that game's not close to over yet, so why give up runs. Keep it 6-0 and hope your lineup can scratch out a bunch......
