Ryan Doumit

He's shown the ability to hit for power and average in the past. Last season, he started out slow and then got hurt. This season, he batted 415 with 4HR and 3SB in 50ABs in AAA. Then he gets called up and goes 2-4 with the game winning RBI last night. With Paulino struggling, is there any chance at all that Doumit takes over? He was supposed to be the catcher of the future, right? Bucco fans, tell me what you know...

I may be wrong here, but if I remember right he's a pretty poor defensive C. That's why he got some time at 1B last year. But I don't know the story on Paulino's D, and how much slack they'd be willing to give him at the plate.

Nobody seems to know much about Doumit so I did some research and this guy is too good to be sitting on waivers so I dropped DeRosa for him and put Varitek on the bench. I was desperate for a catcher so Doumit came along at the right time. They say he improved defensively down at Indy and he led the league in hitting as well. If he's available and you have a lousy catcher like I did, grab him. If he tanks you can always drop him later and get someone else.
