What's wrong with Zumaya?

Don't watch any DET games but can anyone comment?

Is he just unlucky or something else? the BAA is the same as last year but he's already given up 8 BB. Injury or batters have figured him out?

He's not getting his breaking ball over the plate and teams are waiting for the fastball.

Throwing hard doesn't always mean results, pure and simple. He's a thrower and not a pitcher and that makes the minors to majors transition hard once the league adjusts to you.

His control looks a little off. Still seems to have good velocity but is elevating his fastball and not getting his curve over enough to keep hitters honest. Have heard nothing of any arm soreness or fatigue.

Zumaya recently said himself he is not ready to be a closer yet

generally admitting he still has a lot to learn i.e. command IMO

I believe its a mental thing. Hopefully things can start clicking for him sooner rather than later.
