I lucked out last year when I was able to pick Lopez up mid-season via a trade. I had heard he paid extra attention to his fitness during the previous winter. But then again it was a contract year for him last year. Expect some sort of drop-off. Pudge is really consistant from season to season. He won't hit 30 dingers (neither will Javy this year) but he will hit .300.
I Rod's the safe play.

I heard Cubbies were more interested in Maddux (why I have no idea).

yeah..me and a guy just had that discussion. I think they need hitting first so they are going after pudge and if they don't get him I can see them signing Maddux for 1 year/11million or so.
Picture this scenerio. Maddux started his career in Chicago in 1986 and now he comes back to get win #300 and go into the hall as a cubbie. As was brought to my attention by my friend he was not liked too well by the fans when he left chicago so he'll probably get booed his first outing and then after he goes 7ip 5ks 0er and gets the win they will warm up to him.
Chicago will make a killing in merchandise sales.
maybe it's just wishful thinking!
