WHERE CAN I IMPROVE - WHIR

Postby Guzman24 » Fri Apr 27, 2007 5:52 pm

12 Team H2H 5x5 Keeper

My team is finally starting to hit and I've moved into the middle of the pack in my league after a brutal start the first few weeks. I should jump to 4th place after this week if all goes as planned.

Just wondering if you see any areas on my team that need improving. I know I could improve at 3rd with Zim but he is starting to come around a bit now. My plan from the beginning of the year has been to stock pile pitching depth. As pitchers are more prone to get injured and Ill be able to trade with other managers when/if their arms go down. Id much rather have a good young arm who could break out taking up a bench spot than a mediocre bat..

When Dye and Konerko pick it up I think I'll be where I need to be but Im open to any and all suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Overall your hitting is real good. The only problem I see is speed but since it's a head to head league Reyes will win you stolen bases by himself some weeks and if he doesn't it's only one category. Your pitching staff is good but I could see your WHIP being a little high and your saves being a little low.

Since your title is "Where can I improve", I'll answer that 2B and P are the weakest links.

Philips is off to a slow start with his average, and pretty much everything else except for his Home Runs and Steals. Definitely not panic time, but do pay close attention to him as time progresses. I am personally not 100% sold on him.

I typically don't like having more than 1 SP occupying a P slot, unless I need to add a win or a few K's near the end of a week. I think you should consider swapping El Duque for Weathers.

And is that James Shields or Scot Shields?

Your roster is very solid and really the only stat you lask is speed for stolen bases. Reyes is one of the top 5 baserunners in the league and will get you atleast 50 steals. I think you will be just fine...

Please Help:

I agree with everyone else. Your lineup is solid and you'll pick up places once all of your players get going. The only area for real improvement is speed but because it's H2H you should be fine. I also really like to stock pitching and they should carry you.

Please help with mine

With reyes in your line up, you don't have nay problem with speed.

Your pitching is solid, not spectatcular. El Duque's trip to the DL today won't help.

I'm not sold at all on Phillips at 2B, so that is where i would focus efforts to improve. Maybe package Phillips with Grozzy to move up to a better 2B?
