Im having a personal debate. I currently have Martin at C and im not complaining. But im trying to maximize on R,Rbi,HR,and keep a solid avg. Martin has been solid and has even given me 4 sb at C which is a nice gift. Barrett has more HR and More Rbi, and seems to hit in a better position behind Lee and Aram. He is also in a contract year for those who take stock in that theory and has a good track record of being a solid power hitting C. Martin is hot right now, but is not projected to post power numbers as high as barrett, and he plays in a pitchers park in LA. Should I keep Martin and hope for a above projection year or should I pick up Barrett and ride him? Both are solid options but im trying to maximize 3-4 of my categories with the best C option I can. Its a win/win situation but i was just wondering who you all thought would be the better option. WHIR. Thanks
Out of the two, I have always preferred Barrett. Yes, Martin will give you steals, which is rare out of a catcher, but Barrett is a power hitter that is still getting better. Plus, he'll post a .290 average which will not hurt your team. For the whole stat line, Barrett will fill it up a bit more.
Both are good and both will probably finish right behind the big three. Barrett's the better choice though. If he had played this normal 130 games last year he would have had numbers to make him the 4th best catcher.
