He started to charge the mound, then went down in pain. They cleaned up the blood, removed him from the game, and has been taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Hunter is questionable for April 27-29 series at Detroit after getting hit in the mouth

Apr 26 ESPNews reports Minnesota Twins OF Torii Hunter (head) left the game Thursday, April 26, after he was hit in the face by a pitch.

A stunned-looking Hunter needed a towel to clean up the blood, and Greinke and Royals infielders came over to check on him. After a few minutes, Hunter walked off the field on his own power and received a standing ovation.

I feel really bad for him, I'm sure taking a pitch to the face wasn't an easy thing to do. At least he had the power to walk off on his own, props to you Torii ;-D

Did the Twins retaliate yet? I guess a warning must have been sent our right after that.

Anytime a batter is hit there's warnings to both sides. I'm pretty sure Zach didn't do it intentionally, no pitcher wants to intentionally throw a 90+ mph baseball at someones head.

This is just the Royals way of saying "FU" for the champagne.

But wouldn't they have been HAPPY about the champagne? It was Torii saying "thanks for winning" - it's not like he congratulated them for LOSING a game...

Is this ball-to-the-face the only logical reason someone would drop Hunter? In one of my leagues, a player dropped Hunter to pick up Baldelli instead. I've put in a waiver claim on Hunter - is there any reason I SHOULDN'T?

No way, Hunter is a great player and putting up solid numbers so far... I would say Hunter is an injury risk, but so is Baldelli, so that manager may just be retarded.
