Myers was dropped in both of my important leagues by the same manager. I already got him in my roto league and I've got a claim in in my points league. His numbers were way too good last year for me to let him sit out there.
I think it's only a matter of time before he's either a starter again or a closer.
Charlie has already said: "We're paying Gordon to be a closer". So Myers will not close unless Gordon is injured or has a colossal meltdown. Myers may pick up random saves on rest days for Gordon though.
Myers stated that once he's moved to the bullpen that he does not want to be switched back...so I doubt he will be a starter for the rest of this year (unfortunately). Probably next year he will be back in the rotation.
Regarding the Phils current win streak...it's because they are finally hitting with men on base, not because of this silly rotation change. IMO.
"paying someone to be the closer" is the dumbest argument. A) it doesn't matter. You are paying him either way, so its the worst sunk cost thinking to stick with him if there is a better solution. B)Presumably, they are also paying Myers to be a starter...

this "solution" has had absolutely no effect on the phillies winning games. its like like brett myers has won any games for us because of this move. sure lieber is pitching good, but he could have done that with myers in the rotation.
Correct.
That's impossible. For every action there is an equal reaction. Whether it's a lack of and a substitute, or Myers presence during a different part of the game, something has changed and is affecting the Phillies results. Considering Myers ERA before the switch, it's entirely possible they prevented runs from being scored on them by using him differently. There are also different metal effects on individual players, specifically starting pitchers, which could be at play as well.

I couldn't agree with you more here. How much money is Myers making right now? It has to be more than Gordon.
