Favorite Home Run Verbs

Wow, you must have read my mind. I was actually going to create this thread today.

Crazy.

Anyway....

A few of my favourites from All Star Baseball 2004 (Tom Brennaman):

"That ball's gonna make like a baby, and head out"
"No need to valet, I'll park it myself!"
"Whip up some gravy cuz that ball is mashed"
"He's sending that ball dowwwwwntowwwwwn"

From Sportscenter:

"Bartender....I'll have a shot of JACK"

As in....

"Howard just went Yard"

I'm not sure if I heard it before on SportsCenter or something or if it was made up by my friends in a drunken stupor, but we say, "Wright just went Yahtzee." I have no idea why. 'Dinger' is also used instead of 'ding dong'.

I love the home run call, cause you can say anything, and put the right emphasis on the remark, and it works. I mean turn any word into a verb and it fits.. he mashed, tattooed, crushed, bombed, sweatered, lambasted, eviscerated, perturbed.... they all work. A home run allows the most freedom in sports, absolutely fantastic.

One from my summer team last year... he just went "Ya-ya", as in short for "Yard" or "Yardo".

Then of course the crazy lefty on our team throws out the "He just went Ya-ya like the Sisterhood". Instant Classic

It's also cool when they call it right off the bat before it's even left in infield - as in "you can forget about that one"

I was also thinking about startung a thread on home run calls - very cool.
