no insinuations, accusations, or admittance has been stated other wise....
Actually, in the Jan. 7-13 issue of Sports Weekly, p. 29, there's this from Fay Vincent:
"I hope they don't reinstate him. How can they let him back in when he's lied all these years, and we know he's still lying? WE know he was betting on baseball when he was [playing] with the Phillies in 1981. The evidence is there. I've read excerpts, and he says he only bet on baseball when he was with the Reds. He's still in denial."
So there's an accusation that he did bet on baseball while he was a player.

Interesting...I had never read that...thanks....
But still...accusations are one thing....proof is another....
I still feel the same way.....

Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....

It's a no-win situation, and I think that's why so many folks are so upset. Put him in the Hall, and you're rewarding someone who broke the cardinal rule designed to protect the game's integrity, lied to us for fourteen years, and hasn't apologized yet. But leave him out and you're depriving the Hall - and therefore, its visitors - of one of the game's best players, a man who holds one of its most important records.
Either way, the Hall of Fame, through no fault of its own, winds up a little bit tarnished.

Its not like Pete isn't represented in the HOF. I don't think the fans are being deprived of anything. Pete Rose has a display at the HOF. There is memorabilia, shirts, shoes and bats. That is my understanding, having never been myself.
Just so that "Pete" is not in it .. Thats what matters.
Put his jock in there for all I care ... Just not Pete.
