no way.. i dont care how many hits the guy had.. he lied to his fans.. his teamates.. employers.. players he coached.. friends.. and i could go on.. he lied for the last 15 or so years when all he had to do was admit he [edit] up his life at that time and there would be no doubt in my mind now but after all hes done to try to make money off this whole situation and his just admittin he bet only to get in the hall .. no way.. let him rot in hell
I voted no but that was not really how I fell. You should have an option for No way in hell, Never, nononononononono. He is a crook with no respect for the game and if Selig lets him back in he should be removed.
I actually don't feel as strongly as you guys. I voted no, but only because he signed an agreement not to be allowed back in.
He had a gambling problem, just like some players have drug and alcohol problems. Like Pete said, if it had been drugs or alcohol, he would have been put into a rehab program paid for by MLB and been back in baseball within a month or two. But it was gambling, so he's kicked out forever.
I have a little sympathy for him, but since he lied to the fans, I don't feel bad that he'll never be in the hall. But based on the fact that he signed that piece of paper (which essentially he signed so people wouldn't know the real truth), too bad for him. He only wrote the book to make money for himself, and I think he's making one last stab to get in the hall, adn if it doesn't work, at least he'll be a lot richer. Of course, until the Reds make the playoffs again.......at which time he'll probably piss the money away on post-season bets..............
"Jack, will you call me, if you're able?"
"I've got your phone number written, in the back of my Bible."

Again....Yes he deserves to be in the Hall.....He bet on the game as a manager....not as a player....no insinuations, accusations, or admittance has been stated other wise....The Hall...and fans deserve to have the all time hit leader in the Hall....as a player...should he go in as a manager...NO...should he be allowed back in baseball....NO.....but, his accomplishments as a player should be held seperate from his indiscressions as a manager....
Just my opinion though......
Useless Trivia of the day
England's Worcester Canoe Club set the world record for paddling a hand-propelled bathtub. The 25 man team covered a distance of 55 miles, 425 yards in 24 hours on September 28 and 29, 1979.

He got caught betting on the game as a manager. Only Pete knows for sure how truthful that is.
