That's a lot of typing in 12.82 seconds.
Especially for 20 minutes before the deadline to submit
Interesting, I hadn't noticed his time. Just clicked on the answer button since he was the first person to get it right. That's impossible time, regardless of circumstance. My wife, who's the fastest typer I've ever seen, can't even type that in 12 seconds. Any explanations, Chipper?
He didn't type it; he copied and pasted it from the same google result that cheesebeger did: "Yankees have hit for the cycle".
Even if he cut and pasted it from a google search that's a lot of stuff to do in 12.82 seconds.
a) Type in the search criteria in google (assuming it's already open in another window).
b) Open up a resulting web page.
c) highlight the answer and copy it to the clipboard.
d) click on the "post your answer in this thread" link.
e) paste the info from the clipboard.
f) submit the answer.
Excellent catch, uc. I've checked our logs, and this is a crystal clear case of cheating. This has been dealt with in accordance with the rules.
Trivia Time Trial Rules wrote:CHEATING: It's only a game - so don't even think of it. And even though it's just a game, if we catch somebody trying to manipulate the contest in any way, we'll ban that person from the entire board. We're serious.
Note that he pulled off the same stunt on this one.

Yep, no worries, no injustice was done, and no honest members were hurt in the act. I don't want to go into too much detail as to how much data we log with this game, but I assure you that in this case it spoke volumes. I don't think that in over five years on the site I've ever had so little doubt when hitting the farewell button.
Thanks to the Ops on this one - I can't understand why someone would want to win a trivia game so badly as to violate the rules - not like there is any money in it for the winner - this is all just for good fun (thankfully, since my trivia skills are badly diminishing!)

Oh man, he's the one who got those. I remember the Walsh and Ward ones and thinking there was no way anyone could get those that fast, unless maybe you were their great-grandson.
Yep, the Ward one was cheated as well. I'll refund the points in a bit so they can be given to their legitimate owners.
Guys, nonetheless - please be VERY careful with stuff like this. This one was a winner, but generally, as long as the evidence is just a quick time, the principle should always be "innocent until proven guilty". If you have a suspicion, it's best to PM Mad or myself so we can see if there's any evidence.
