I need a closer!

Postby RudeLou » Tue Apr 24, 2007 3:29 pm

I'm in a keeper league and i'd say my starting pitching isn't too bad, but i really need a closer this is what my team looks like:

C-Johnny Estrada
1B-Berkman
2B-Cano
3B-Freddy Sanchez
SS-A. Hill
OF-Sizemore.D. Young, Damon, Burrell, Byrnes
Util-Fielder

SP-Peavy, Verlander, Wilis, Maine, Liriano, King Felix, C.Young, Wainwright, Burnett

RP-Broxton, Zumaya

who could i pick up or offer for a closer that'll get me some saves or should i try to get a better 3rd baseman? I'd appreciate any info.

Forget bad closers, they will kill ERA and WHIP. Get a middle reliever with an era in the low 1's and whip under 1 and improve the numbers across the board.

Saito is not a bad closer. I picked him up off the WW last august, and he got me about 15 saves with an ERA and WHIP under 1, once Grady made the move.

This season: 8.2 IP, 0 W, 6S, 10K, 1.04 ERA, 0.81 WHIP.

Otsuka is a good option if he is available. Just moved in to Gagne's spot in Texas.
