Not necessarily for the A's. They are always hush about injuries. The news from the a's clubhouse said hamstring. We will know more when they want us to know more.

Here is more from sfgate:

Swisher doesn't believe injury is severe

From Chronicle Staff Writer Susan Slusser

Fast one from the A's post-game clubhouse: Nick Swisher said the left hamstring strain he incurred in the first inning isn't that bad.

"I'm walking around, I'm fine,'' he said. "There's no wheelchair.''

He confirmed he did also roll his right ankle, too, when he put on the brakes rounding third, but that didn't bother him at all.

Manager Bob Geren said the A's will know more about Swisher's condition today and he said that Danny Putnam is likely to be in center field tonight.

Judging by Swisher's remarks, he won't be going on the DL, which would be a real relief for the A's, considering they have five men out already.

Here's some more good news from rotoworld

Nick Swisher expects to avoid the disabled list after straining his left hamstring Tuesday.
"It's no big deal. I'll check it out tomorrow and hopefully be back in the lineup as quick as I can," Swisher said. "I feel fine." Even if Swisher isn't going to miss more than a couple of days, the A's may still need to make a move to get a legitimate center fielder on the roster.

i don't think it looked that bad. he managed to walk off on his own, and doesn't seem to think the injury is that bad. then again neither did harden and now he's on the DL. go a's. :-/

looks like he'll be missing the homestand, but hopefully avoiding the dl.

Now the bad news: Outfielder/first baseman Nick Swisher, who strained his hamstring Tuesday, probably won't play during the five-game homestand. Geren said Swisher was sent for an MRI but was vague about what it revealed.

A provision in the new collective bargaining agreement prevents team medical personnel from discussing specific injuries with the media unless the player signs a waiver allowing such, and the A's haven't asked any of their many injured players to sign one.

"I don't want to get it wrong, as far as whether they found out it was a Grade 1 [strain] or Grade 2 or whatever, but it's relatively minor," Geren said.

Swisher said he felt better Wednesday, adding that he hoped to be ready to play by the time the A's open a two-game series in Boston on May 1.

"That would be positive," said Geren, who wouldn't rule out a trip to the DL for Swisher. "Any sooner than that would be great, but [May 1] would be a nice target date."

i heard yesterday there was an "outside" chance he would play today but it's looking like he's expected to return this weekend instead. I know the hamstring feels much better though....I've been reading that everywhere.
