Tomko is a decent NL only sp #5 or 6. Besides being hit hard and often their is nothing wrong with Tomko

I tend to think this guy is gonna be much better than an average starter. He was thrown to the wolves a couple of times last season by LaRussa, and I'm betting that won't happen again. I don't have a big argument for those who think he "sucks" but I just have a feeling. Don't draft him if you don't want to but I will. ;-D

Madison and eftda,

I want to hear more from each of you on this topic. You both seemed to think signing Tomko was a poor move by the Giants. Can you guys enlighten me with some articulate thoughts?

If anyone else on the "Bad Move SF" side of the table wants to step up to the plate, I would love to hear from you as well.

from a fantasy perspective (in a mixed league) he sucks, no doubt about it. in real life he does have some value as an innings eater. he always took the ball when it was his turn and even one time in boston when it wasnt. he has shown good stuff from time to time but he is very streaky and i think he always has been that way. thats the good. the bad is that he gave up a whole hell of a lot of home runs last year (35) and opponents hit .305 against him. saying his stuff is very hittable is an understatement.

I am staying away from him...even in my NL only leagues....He has career 4.62/1.36 ratios....only once has his ERA been under 4.00 and it has been 5 years since his WHIP was under 1.30....2 of the last three years he has had a H/9 ratio over 10....+30 HRs and +100 ER the last two years.....Not worth the gamble...IMO

If you take out some games his ERA would be 1.00.

But you cant and its really high. If the Pac Bell effect works then this is a great buy. But it might not :-t

The Giants are only paying him like 500k next season. How could he be a bad buy?
