Iwamura hitting the DL?

Postby BUCCOFAN » Tue Apr 24, 2007 1:25 pm

As Per Rotoworld.....

Akinori Iwamura is going on the disabled list with a strained oblique, and the Rays are planning on recalling Jorge Cantu to replace him.
Cantu isn't going to see much time at second base behind B.J. Upton. He'll probably play some at the corners, but he doesn't deserve much based on his showing in Triple-A so far. The Rays will likely use Ty Wigginton and Brendan Harris at third base. Carlos Pena and Ben Zobrist will benefit. Pena is the Rays' only other option at first base, and Zobrist won't lose as much time to Harris at shortstop.

THE RETURN OF CANTU, :-o

Could this mean a possible Evan Longoria sighting if Cantu struggles?

This sucks for the Devil Rays. Iwamura was really helping the team out in all aspects of the game.

ok so I was watching the game last night(stopped shortly after Fossum came out) and he looked absolutely fine. did the injury occur later? It just seems weird to come outta the blue like that...

Does this mean Upton will be moved down in the lineup. Anything is better than 9th.
