Does Loaiza's C+ rating stem from the fact it's only his second start of the year? I mean, his first start was outstanding and against the same struggling Toronto team he's facing tonight. I was thinking this would give him a higher rating, no?
I just picked him up for a spot start, so I'm looking for a little support on my decision, lol...

Well, I'm doing the same if that makes you feel any better. I'm using the same rationale you are. It does worry me that the Jays have seen him so recently.
Smoltz has been bumped up to start against the Marlins. Do you have a ranking for him, and how do you think he will be affected by just having 3 days rest?
Running behind today so I don't have time to look in more detail at the matchups.
Loaiza's grade is based almost entirely on his stats from 2004-2006.
I have updated the post with Smoltz starting for Atlanta and he gets an A. I would suggest looking at his recent history on 3 days rest for an indication of how it might affect him.
Beckett at the yankees? I know I have to start him, I just hate starting any pitcher against the Yankees... both times he faced them this year he let up 4 runs... any input?

Emotions don't figure into NH's system, but I am really leery about Shields start against Baltimore tonight - he has yet to beat the O's in five career tries, he's pitching away from Tropicana and the Orioles are overdue for a win. I think Shields is a very risky start tonight.
