Why do you think these two are held to a different standard?
I mean all you have to do is be accused, unless of course you are or were a Yankee.
why do you think that is?

why are the Yankees held to a different standard.

personally, i consider them to be in the same boat with along with barry. but to answer your question (even though i think you know the answer...), the difference in attention levels is due to the fact that barry is assaulting what is considered one of the greatest records in sports. there are alot of people that kinda consider that record to be like a holy grail of sorts, so they are more offended by the idea of a cheater holding that record, than by other, more general cheaters, who aren't really setting any specific, "hallowed" records.

I'd say the difference is how well-liked Pettite and Clemens are vs. Bonds. The only reason I've ever disliked Pettite or Clemens is because they were on the Yankees. Barry on the other hand has had image problems from the get-go. This makes people much more willing to pile on him.

I beg to differ. These are not your run of the mill guys here. One is a HOF 'er for sure, and the other is borderline. Roger has his name on a couple of records. One big one comes to mind right off the bat. Strikeouts in a game.
Why aren't the HOF writers talking about banning him from the HOF ballot's?
It is ok to break some records while on PED's, but not others? that is news to me.
Maybe we should compile a list of records where it is ok to use PEDS. I currently know of none, but if somebody would like to share, that would be cool. Obviously we can start with anything related to strikeouts, they are obviously not considered "hallowed ground."

maybe, just maybe, the children of New York are not as important as the rest of the country, so the media doesn't feel the need to protect them ... hmmm just a thought.

You're leaving out the fact that Tejada, Roberts, and Gibbons were also implicated in that same affadavit, which involved accusations by former Yankee and Oriole Jason Grimsley. None of those three has ever played for the Yankees.

I think there is a big difference. There is more concrete evidence of Barry's past steroid useage then purely accusations, which include the link to Balco, head growth, foot growth, among other things. The only thing Pettite and Clemens have against them is accusations.

I don't know if it's because he's a Yankee, but it sure seems like Giambi is held to a different standard by a lot fo the national media. Unlike Bonds and Sheffield, who "didn't know what they were doing" Giambi admitted he did, and he is still out there adored for as long as he performs well. There is less evidence on McGwire doing any and he is shut out of the Hall.
