Wainwright gets JACKED!!!....

...by the cubs without Soriano.

5.1 IP, 12Hits, 3BB, 7ER

In the game, he seemed to have no control. The kid seems like a bit of a head case to me. My question is: Why did LaRussa even let him attempt to pitch the sixth inning? His pitch count was around 100 and he was clearly struggling. It just does not seem right to put a young guy in such a tough spot, especially considering that Wainwright pitched out of the bullpen all of last year.

Do you guys see him panning out? Has his stock dropped below that of Reyes? Thoughts?

You seem to leave out that he also struck out 7. His walk totals are a little scary but he'll be fine. His first two starts were very good.

I watched the game and I was surprised when I saw him coming to pitch in the 6th. I can only think that LaRussa tryed to save his pen.
Wainwright was really struggling, although a lot of the Cubs hits seemed like having laser guidence to find a spot. Im saying that as a Cubs fan. And the wind was really blowing out that day at Wrigley.

Still Wainwrights curve is not workin yet. I watched all of his starts and its far from last year's. Thats why I decided to bench him. But once his curve will bite again he'll do fine.
His pitch count is not a factor, he is streched out.
