JJ Hardy for Real?

Postby dclark0699 » Sun Apr 22, 2007 11:40 am

Is this run of power he is showing a sign of things to come? I know he was predicted by many to breakout last year before the injury kept him out all year.

From Rotoworld:

J.J. Hardy homered twice off the Astros' Wandy Rodriguez to lead the Brewers to a 6-4 win on Saturday night.

Hardy is the first Brewer in four years to hit four homers in three games. Geoff Jenkins last did it on May 19-21, 2003. Hardy has five homers in all. He's not going to keep up this kind of pace, but he could be good for another 12-15 over the course of the season.

I could see Hardy hitting 20 this year. He has shown flashes of power and "getting it" at the plate each season since his terrible first half in 2005. But he's been derailed with injuries. If he can stay healthy, I think he's in for a solid season.

He could be for real, but I havent seen him play enough to offer an opinion on it.

I put Hardy in the same category as Peralta, Greene, & Crosby.

Mashes lefties, is just ok vs righties. At the very least he fits in nicely in a platoon type situation. He's a better real SS than fantasy though because he doesn't really steal bases.

Plays every day batting 2nd so that alone sets his value higher than most scrub MI's.

I had him as my breakout SS last year, and got off to a good start, but then suffered the season ending injury.

I soured on him a little bit this year, but I think he has a shot of finishing in the 10-15 rank for SS.

Exactly, last year he was set to break out. This year he actually will.

Hardy with another HR making it 6 on the season. Guy is red hot, if he's still out there I'd grab him and at least ride the hot streak. ;-D

Hardy will stay consistant enough to be a top 10 shortstop by years end. The guys for real. He just needed a healthy year.
