Still not pitching. Still hasn't seen Dr. Andrews who is going to decide if he needs surgery AGAIN. And no timetable for him to start pitching any time soon even if surgery is not necessary. According to Cubs pitching coach Larry Rothschild he's lost all the arm speed and stamina he built up in the offseason. And even when he starts pitching, he won't crack the Cubs rotation for a while, which has been pretty good this year and could add top pitching prospect Angel Guzman any day now.
Honestly, my advice would be to forget about him. I know people salivate when thinking about getting production like his 2003 season on the WW, but it just ain't gonna happen. He is not anywhere in the Cubs plans right now, and neither should he be in yours. If (and it is a big if) he can manage to string together a decent couple of injury-free months in the minors, you'll hear about it here, and then I'd start to worry about him as a viable fantasy option. But if I had to bet, I'd say he doesn't pitch an MLB inning this year.
