Hey a teamate and best friend of mine who was projected to go in the late first round or early supplemental first round this summer was just diagnosed with a torn tendon in his pitching elbow, and needs tommy john surgery. He has been told that he will come back stronger than before, but I was wondering what MLB pitchers out there have come back from this and pitched successfully? Im just looking to give him some current pitchers as examples to help his tough rehab schedule coming up soon.

Tommy John for starters. Jon Lieber is another (the yankees signed him to a two year deal while recovering if i am not mistaken), Tom Gordon, and Billy Koch just to name a few.
BTW the reason pitcher typically throw harder after TJ operation is because of the workout regime they have to go through while recovering. If your teammate works hard and does what the doctors tell him there is an exceptionally good chance he will be as good or better than he was before.
