He had pitched 2 days before - but 7 days before that. I understand that you have to keep him sharp - but to only give him one day off then bring him back in garbage time - i guess i don't understand that one. What if they have a Save Op tonite? He's now pitched twice in 3 days (46 pitches), would they bring him back for 3 times in 4 days? It is Washington after all, so they're definately playing a team they can beat finally.

It certainly was a questionable move.

But speaking as someone who watched the game, and saw how he pitched, he didn't look too bad. He was facing a Mets lineup that is absolutely on fire right now. And Tankersley didn't look that great either, so there is no reason to worry at this point.

Is this official? I can't find an official word anywhere.

That quote from Rotoworld really doesn't tell me he's the closer yet. It's just Owens saying he wants the job.

I wouldnt drop Tank just yet. This situation is still a mess.

Look at his minor league stats. He closed multiple games in the minors and had good ratios. I like him. His breaking stuff hangs a little bit from time to time. That is the only thing that concerns me.

He looked nervous and was pulled before he could save the game. Even his two outs were fly balls to center. I hate when managers warm up pitchers after there closer gives up a hit. It shows he has zero confidence in owens. As a owens owner I am concerned
