Well, had Sanjaya actually gone all the way to win Idol, I doubt that his win would all of a sudden mean that the show will never return. Idol is two things: a pop culture phenomenon that the teenyboppers and soccer moms trying to be as hip as their kids will always be sucked into viewing, and two, it's a massive advertising machine. If anything, the results would've just questioned the quality of the competition, at least for this season.

Like others on the board, I don't follow American Idol. It's plastic, even for L.A. standards...methinks.

Did just get that 4th place Daughtry's CD though. And I thought it was great

I had never watched a single episode of American Idol in the three or four years, or whatever, that it's been on TV, then last week we had some company staying at our house who were avid idol watchers so we watched it with them. I couldn't believe how bad the singers were. Apparently everyone had to sing Latin songs, and nobody could. The Sanjaya guy had probably the second best performance of everyone in the show, and he didn't even really sing...he just kind of whispered in Spanish.
