I wouldn't want to own any closer from Pittsburgh or KC unless they're studs.

Since it's not the case with Pittsburgh's Torres or even Capps, i would say to pass on those.

Where were you when they said that B.J. Ryan was going on the DL? It's from these teams you need to pick up closers.

but in all seriousness, i grabbed one top tier closer this year and then waited until rounds 15+ to take torres, reyes, and gagne. it may not work out, but i didn't spent too much on them, and i still have the chance to pick up FA closers when other closers start going down.

edit: gonzo from pitt was a stud last year, he converted all 24 of his save opps, and had an absurd K/9. very much worth owning, and very inexpensive.

They were 8th. The Pirates over the past 5 years are 11th in the Majors in save opportunities.

I've been shopping Torres lately (not because I don't want to own him, just trying to package him for a 3B) and I keep getting those responses, even from teams with only one closer. Their response to my "looks like you might need a closer"? "Not one from Pittsburgh."

It's just silly.

Torres is very underappreciated out there.
