what is up with this guy, I picked him on in the middle of week one in a deep league just on name recognition, this guy has always been a fantasy tweener (good but not fantasy good). That said....
6R / 2HR / 7RBI / 3.02 AVG / 1.015 OPS
For a guy who more than likely went undrafted, he is putting together a nice little April.
My question is this, batting cleanup, can he keep this up...well probably not this, but can he finish with a 80R/20HR/90RBI type season.
Im using him in a pretty deep 12 team roto league and have been very pleased with him. When he is healthy he is a .300 hitter and should be able to put up some ok numbers ( I watched him a lot when he was a red). I could see 20hr and 80-90 RBI if he started a full season. He is a switch hitter so you dont have to worry about matchups. The question is, "What happens when nick johnson returns?" He did play some outfield but his defense is a liability.
I think this is the 3rd straight year he's come out like a house afire. He starts out really quickly and then fades out...a lot like Juan Encarnacion normally does when he's not hurt.
He'll be good for maybe another couple of weeks...I would trade him for whatever you can get before he fizzles out.

Typical WhiteHot spam which he should've been banned for ages ago.
Interestingly enough, though, is that Dmitri Young has drawn nearlya s many BB in 43 AB this year as he did in 172 ABs a year ago, and half as many as he did in 469 2005 ABs. If this is no statistical anomoly, and Young's eye has improved, there's a chance he bats over .300, with 20 HR being a possibility. Given that he's never driven in 90 nor has he scored 80 in a year shy of a decade, those may be reaches, even though he's started off well.
There's also the aspect of Dmitri not reaching 500 ABs since 2003, and only 4 times in 10 years, so he's far from safe to remain healthy through the entire season. Arrows seem to point to trying to dish him off if there's someone in your league who's buying.
I had to pick him up because of my loss of Giambi and inability to trade for another 1B. I don't think he will keep it up he's a very average fantasy player. Anyone counting on him like i'm counting on him is in trouble imo.
