He has been about as good as Tim Wakefield (1.38 Era, 0.92 WHIP) so far.
"I do not think baseball of today is any better than it was 30 years ago... I still think Radbourne is the greatest of the pitchers." John Sullivan 1914-Old athletes never change.
Because he was very lucky last year and he was abused last year which is not a good combo. The entire point of selling high is to get more reliable talent for a riskier player.

1-0, 1.42 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 15 Ks in 19 innings
Not bad for a guy with a supposed "dead arm" after the workload last year ...
Check out these numbers:
2-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.47 WHIP, 18 Ks in 17 innings.
That's King Felix and he's 1000 times better than Justin "Scrub" Verlander.
J35J wrote:Exactly, Verlander is good but not top shelf. If you can get a top shelf guy back then thats what it is all about.
J35J pretty much sums it up here. Its always about getting something for less than what its worth. I'm not saying Verlander is going to have a bad year or ever perform poorly the rest of the way. I'm saying he'll probably never perform as well and therefore if you can get better value for him then you should pull the trigger...
PS. Verlander will not be cy young unless santana and halladay decide to fall off the planet
