Justin "Cy Young" Verlander?

Postby NYCBuckeye » Mon Apr 16, 2007 10:35 pm

Ok, I know, he just got his first win tonight, but check out his numbers through three starts (yes, its early, just a tongue-in-cheek discussion starter for those adamant about saving these posts till after the All-Star Break ...):

1-0, 1.42 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 15 Ks in 19 innings

Not bad for a guy with a supposed "dead arm" after the workload last year ...

I think Santana, Felix, Halladay, and Bonderman will have something to say about that.
Here's the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN!

Agreed on all counts ... needless to say, I am happy with JV's start.

I'm looking more for Rich "Cy Young" Hill, Verlander has had an impressive start, but Rich Hill is just decimating every team he pitches against.

2-0, 14 Innings, 11 Ks, .64 ERA, .57 WHIP

Verlander could get some consideration though ;-7

Yeah, I'd probably be more impressed if 12 of those 19 innings weren't against the Royals...

Correct me if I am wrong, but couldn't they both win the Cy Young?

Sure could, unless one gets traded to the other league.

How 'bout some Tim Hudson love? Hell since we are going on first two weeks worth of performances.

I think if he were to have dead arm, it would come later in the season . . . :-?
