Ok, I know, he just got his first win tonight, but check out his numbers through three starts (yes, its early, just a tongue-in-cheek discussion starter for those adamant about saving these posts till after the All-Star Break ...):

1-0, 1.42 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 15 Ks in 19 innings

Not bad for a guy with a supposed "dead arm" after the workload last year ...

I'm looking more for Rich "Cy Young" Hill, Verlander has had an impressive start, but Rich Hill is just decimating every team he pitches against.

2-0, 14 Innings, 11 Ks, .64 ERA, .57 WHIP

Verlander could get some consideration though ;-7

Yeah, I'd probably be more impressed if 12 of those 19 innings weren't against the Royals...
