Espn reports DRay's interest in Lidge. Do you see it happening? What say the cafe?

I like the idea, but it will never happen. Lidge is only a year and a half away from free agency, so no chance we deal any future kids for a 30 year old Lidge. We would still have him for next year though as he can't be a free agent until the 2008 offseason, but I don't see a move happening. We have the money available to make a deal for Lidge, but I think the only guaranteed 2 years left of Lidge will turn DRO away.

Yea this is his 2nd arbitration year, so he would still pretty much be locked up for another year.

Yea, but the price would likely be higher then 5 million. I don't think we trade for him unless we can sign him to a 3 or 4 year deal. And I don't think that is happening, with free agency so close for him. He would be a great asset, but I imagine the price will be extreme as he still has super talent.

Thing is he would be worth the cash if we plan on contending next year and the year after. Closers make a lot and if we are contending next year he along with Reyes would create a great pen

Takes more then one guy to make a great pen. We still need alot more help then just Lidge.
