Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez, off to a torrid start with a .406 average, one homer and five RBI, was scratched from the Cubs lineup Friday because of swelling in his right wrist.
Ramirez apparently hurt his wrist originally in spring training, but the swelling had worsened. He was sent to have the hand checked by a specialist before the Cubs played the Reds at Wrigley Field Friday, but no diagnosis was available.
What are you guys doing?
"Putting on the Foil Coach!"
Aramis Ramirez was out of the lineup with a swollen right wrist Friday and was sent to a hand specialist to be examined.
"Let's hope it's not serious, but he's got a lot of swelling," manager Lou Piniella said. Ryan Theriot would normally fill in for Ramirez, with Mark DeRosa moving to third, but DeRosa is also out today, putting Ronny Cedeno in the lineup. If Ramirez lands on the DL, the Cubs could recall Scott Moore to serve as a backup.

OK, I think that means I put in BJ Upton for Sat and Sun. Do people think I should take the chance on ARam coming back or just play Upton for safeties sake. It's early, I can always make up the 3 missed game later.

This doesn't sound too good. Hand sworeness out of nowhere? Makes me think he might have a stress facture in his hand. But I'll wait to make any WW moves until after he gets evaluted.

Ugh, both my Ramirezes are down right now! Although Hanley is supposed to come back today.
I'll let you know if Ron or Pat mention any further status of A-Ram during this afternoon's Cubs game, but from the reports, I'd be surprised if he played this weekend. They've had 2 days off already, and it's still swollen I guess.

Apparently he injured his wrist in spring training but it's just now getting swollen again.
Maybe wishful thinking on my part but if he did not injure himself over the past week and has been swinging the bat with authority, it would be strange to imagine that he just suddenly came down with a serious injury.

I'm hoping the same thing. He had a hit in the last game in the second, and this sit out is out of nowhere. There was no word about an injury during the game.
