Turnbow Turnaround?

Postby imblotto » Thu Apr 12, 2007 4:10 pm

He's been pretty impressive this year so far. He's managing to finally throw his slider for strikes and hitters don't have much of a chance.

5IP, 9 K, 0.40 WHIP, 0 ER

Coco and Turnbow are turning into one of the league best 1-2 punch, although I'm big time Brewers biased.

Thanks for the heads up. I may take a flyer on him in a deep league. He really did well a few seasons ago.

Most likely a mental/mechanics problem last year and he seems to have fixed it by looking at his performance in the spring and April.

Yeah, he's pitching like "good" Turnbow, the dominant closer. He and CoCo have given this team a two headed closer in the 8th and 9th and have looked unhittable. I think it was very much a mental issue for T-Bow last year and hopefully he doesn't relapse.

Turnbow's turning himself into trade bait for the Brew Crew.

Possibly, depending on where they stand at the deadline. I think they'll be in it though. Nothing from this first couple weeks of action has changed my point of view that the NL Central is wide open. 5-4, tied for first place. I think it'll be close all year, making it hard to trade a key piece of the pen. Plus, Cordero's contract is up after this year, and they may keep Turnbow around and move him back to closer when/if they lose CoCo.

He's the streotypical 100 MPH fastball reliever who has no clue where he's throwing the ball. Honestly, he sucks. He might ride on the laurels of a good season for a while, but in the end he's a AAAA thrower. Don't be fooled; the ball will be hitting the backstop more than the glove soon enough.

Seems a little harsh. He finished off 2005 in a pretty good way.
