This is from the Reds home page:

"Many of the years between 1999 and 2006 were lost ones. It included a nearly four-year absence from baseball -- first because of injuries and later because he was suspended for drug use. Hamilton was a crack cocaine addict. He was re-instated in July 2006, and played in 15 games at the low Class A level. "

Thats a serious addiction. Its an amazing turnaround.

Crack addict to potential ROY. Crazy.

Thanks, that was a great read. How can you not root for the guy. I hope he puts up great numbers. And only a little of that has to do with him being on my team.

like i think ive said before, i knew he was going to be good after seeing him swing in spring training. its easy to say that now, but ive always liked his bat speed and plate vision. ive got him in 2 out of 4 leagues, also, where my OF/util is week.

... take this somewhere else.

hamilton is still a pretty good option for people waiting on OF's like ibanez' bats to come alive. even though, right now, hamilton isn't on a "streak," he still provides the HR & SB capability, along with RBI opportunities hitting cleanup. i think josh has hit cleanup 3 or 4 games in a row now.

cant help but cheer for this guy.
"I dont know who the Royals will have in centerfield now that Estebean German took one in the mouth on a fly ball. Probably Kerry Robinson which means that the Royals start with one out every 3 innings."

I have the same dilemma. I have Bonds in the Util spot though. I have been benching Bay for Hamilton here and there.

they only picked him up because the Reds gave them $100K to do it. He wasn't one of their targets.
As if the Cubs need another OF.
