Jenks pretty much melted down in the 9th to blow that game against Oak.. Im keeping a keen eye on that closing situation, Ozzie will not let this happen much..Would MacDougal be in line to close if Jenks continues this?..Not saying it'll happen, but just incase..
Jenks does have a history of control problems... that was why the Angels DFA'd him a while back. They didn't think he could make it as a starter. This is a good situation to keep an eye on (imo), and if you are using middle relievers Macdougal wouldn't be a bad one to have.
That said I wouldn't cut anyone of import for him, just keep an eye out. One BS won't cause Jenks to lose his job, but Guillen has shown he's not afraid to switch closers mid-season.
All I know is in Spring Training Jenks looked horrible (7 ER in 9 ip) and some wispers began of how he may be hiding something.. Just something to keep an eye on.

There were the same whispers last year. That the playoffs the previous year were a fluke, and that Neil Cotts was the hot pickup to take the job from Jenks, who was far too inconsistant to keep his job for a full season. Then he went on to save 41 games. I'd say his job is pretty secure.
Yes absolutely keep an eye on MacDougal. Not because of tonight, but because of last year. Jenks was horrid at the end of the year, was messy in ST, and is not impressive this year. A good move during the draft this season, even, would be to have picked up MacDougal as such a speculative move.

well its not like he was actually that great last year...
5.72 ERA after the break, pretty high whip. 41 saves to 4 blown is good though.
just saying, hes not the most locked down closer in the league. of course, thats obvious, but it is a situation to keep an eye on at least.
