I usually feel I can get more out of WW pitchers than hitters I suppose.
I suppose I start out with bench hitters but end up moving or dropping them for pitchers.

So what do you guys prefer?

bench hitters or bench pitchers and why?

Without getting into deep strategic preference, as the search function will cover that, I generally carry 1 or 0 bench bats* and stockpile arms on my bench.

*This of course depends on bench depth.

Bench pitchers is clearly the way to go in most leagues. 9 out of 10 days bench hitters sit there and do nothing. Bench pitchers on the other hand can be rotate into the starting lineup when they make their starts. So, in a daily lineup league carrying more then one or two bench hitters puts you at a huge disadvantage.

Is this a subtle clue?

Nah. I just know I've already gone through it in the time between Spring Training and today, it's nearly 12:30 am here, and I don't want to type it all out again right now. :-D But by all means, look into other threads on this matter that have previously happened. You'll find that a lot of people agree with you, and get further reasoning on why. ;-D

Did a quick search for 'bench player strategies' in Leftovers.

Here's JT's explanation
Here's a discussion.
Bench value discussion.
A little off-topic, but still relevant...
What's wrong with batters on the bench?

That oughtta keep you busy awhile. ;-) ;-D

I tend to have a 1 or 2 bench players and the rest SP. Ideally you hav at least one multi-position player. Not necessarily on the bench. But available to move around on other players off days. The rest would be my starting rotation. 7 to 9 SP total.
