Someone who is affiliated with the Devil Rays says this was how Gathright was discovered. By a low level scout in an organization. Who knows how valid it is, but judging on his baseball skills I would kinda believe it.

Can somebody with some athletic training experience tell me what kind of conditioning it takes to achieve that kind of vertical jump height? The concept of vertical jump height always eluded me. Obviously its not just doing squats and pumping up your legs like crazy. Is it some sort of ratio between calf strength and overall weight?
