possible he gets called up at some point, but someone will probably have to get hurt. i guess he could replace tavarez, but tavarez will get at least a few more starts, and lester is coming back.
If Taveraz can't get through the fifth in his next couple of starts look for Hansack to get the call...at least until lester is ready (some time in June or July)

This guy's coming and he's coming hard. Sleep tight Julian.
Triple-A Pawtucket's Devern Hansack allowed an unearned run over five innings and struck out 10 in a second straight start on Wednesday. If Julian Tavarez struggles again next time out, maybe the Red Sox won't wait any longer before going to Hansack. The 29-year-old from Nicaragua has allowed six hits, walked three and struck out 20 over 10 2/3 innings for Pawtucket.
Hansack should replace Tavarez now imo. But Lester has been lights out so far in the minors. Fantastic actually. He really needs to move up a level before he's back in Boston but come on!
After throwing four scoreless innings at Single-A Tuesday, manager Terry Francona said Jon Lester is "begging for more innings." "He's the best text messager in the game," Francona said. "He text messaged me this morning, said he felt good. He's begging for more innings. He'll go five in his next start."Source: Boston Globe
Jon Lester threw four scoreless innings and struck out five Tuesday in his second start for low Single-A Greenville. He allowed three singles and walked one. Lester, who also pitched four shutout innings last Thursday, is scheduled to make two more starts for Greenville, going five innings each time.
Jon Lester allowed one hit in four scoreless innings in his start for low Single-A Greenville on Thursday. Lester will make three more starts in the South Atlantic League before the Red Sox reevaluate his status. He'll probably be sent to Triple-A Pawtucket once he's finished at Greenville.
May 4 Hansack was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket on Thursday to take the roster spot of reliever Mike Timlin, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list with tendinitis in his right shoulder.
Advice: Hansack likely will be used as long reliever with either Brendan Donnelly or Joel Pineiro take over Timlin's set-up role. Hansack, 29, was 1-3 with a 3.77 ERA in five games, all starts, for Pawtucket. He pitched a five-inning no-hitter for Boston in the final game last season, a 9-0 win over Baltimore that was called off because of rain.
What do you guys think his role be now that he is called up? More than a long reliever?

He has SP eligibility
He will likely be long reilf. They seem content to have Tavarez hold down the fifth spot until Lester is ready. Unless Tavarez really stinks for a few starts in a row (which he hasn't really done, he is god aweful every other start, and just medicore in between).

Hanseck will be nothing more than a reliever. Tavarez will not be pulled until Lester is ready, in my opinion, because Tavares ahs not been that bad. Had it not been for 1 swing of the bat from Mientkiwicz Tavarez would have had quite a game going against the yankees. Tavarez has not piitched horrible but hes pitched well enough to stay in the rotation until Lester comes up.
Maybe the Red Sox are positioning Hansack for a shot at the closer's role. From Rotoworld:
Hideki Okajima, RP, BOS – Fantasy leaguers are starting to question Jonathan Papelbon's health, despite what Terry Francona says. He blew a save against the weak Oakland offense on Tuesday, and then the Red Sox opted to let J.C. Romero in to finish off yesterday's game. Brendan Donnelly started the ninth and was lifted after he walked Jose Vidro. Romero, a southpaw, then retired the lefty Raul Ibanez and the right-handed Richie Sexson. It was a fairly unexpected sequence of events. Papelbon didn't even warm up.
