Castillo was just taken by the one guy in front of me...he is now moot to this debate.
My thoughts:
Since we have 2 util positions in this league, I have no problem grabbing offense and best stick avail. Not a geat position scarcity fan to start with and even less of one when better sticks are around. M. Cabrera and Nevin are nice options too, but Sweeney is established and offers a huge payoff if he manages to post 550 ABs. M. Cabrera has barely played half a season...Nevin is more of an injury risk IMO, and 1b/of dual position eligibility is not worth a great deal (nice, but not that meaningful in round 7).
As to a closer, a legitimate concern, but I do not want to start the closer run, especially on the pick before the snake. And I am not a believer in paying high for closers.

Good idea the Astros will have an improved team and will probably have plenty of save opps and Dotel has been a premier set up man who I think can successufully make the transfer to closer

Well in the seventh round I would say hes worth the risk I would feel better taking him in the eigth round where he is less of a risk

35 saves with his eyes closed, probably closer to 40 with good era/whip/k's. He would be a very nice pick.

Yea, he's got injury concerns, safe was a bad choice of words. But looking at the list, i think there's far riskier picks. Maddux, Moyer, Palmeiro are old, Nomo getting there, Nevin has declined a bit, closers are always risky, Cabrera's growing pains, Pattersons batting eye.
