Dye is 2/20 with 5 K's and 1 rbi. Not worse, but not much better and Dye won't see a second of time at triple a (barring injury)

Correct, which means that major league players who have already established themselves can do the exact same thing. I'm not saying AAA wouldn't benefit Gordon- it obviously would help. I'm saying that for a rookie who skipped AAA, facing those major league pitchers in the first week of the season makes it even tougher to get in a groove and gain a little confidence. That does not mean it can't happen and he can't turn around and start to get things going.
