Jack Cust hit a three-run homer off Fernando Cabrera with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to give the A's a 10-7 win over the Indians on Sunday.

Barry Bonds, David Ortiz, Vladimir Guerrero... There are some major league hitters you just can't let beat you in the late innings of a close game. Chief among them all, however, is almost certainly Jack Cust. Cust would have gotten his chance years ago, but every GM in baseball knew that to use him was to risk shaking the very foundation of the game. That Cust has had to wait until 28 for regular playing time will probably prevent him from reaching 1,000 career homers, which is a shame. Still, 500 is very much in reach, perhaps by the end of the season.

I think some of them are funny, but a lot of the times they try WAY too hard and it gets annoying. I hope they put a limit of 2-3 jokes per day.

The jokes aren't just for you, ya know. Imagine having to rewrite every little bit of news info about every possible thing that happened during one day of baseball. Can get pretty tedious.

Couldn't agree more. I think some of the jokes can be funny, but sometimes they take away from actual helpful info. I once read about a prospect and the blurb writer mentioned that he couldn't hit a beachball. As (un)funny as that was, I would rather know that he can't hit a curveball/slider/whatever than hear a joke.

That's what Rotoworld used to be....helpful.

edit: that was a little harsh...it's still useful, but it has taken a big step down over the past few months, IMO.
