I don't have any hard news, but it didn't look too serious. He was running to first to cover and he came up lame. He walked off without limping, but couldn't continue. I just traded for him so he better be okay.

It's a right hamstring pull, and he's day to day.

From Rotoworld:
Jason Schmidt left his start in the fifth inning Monday with a right hamstring injury.

Schmidt had to speed up on the way to cover first base after Nomar Garciaparra bobbled a routine grounder and injured his hamstring in the process. Mark Hendrickson replaced him and likely would move into the rotation if Schmidt lands on the DL.Apr. 9 - 5:52 pm et

From Rotoworld:
The Dodgers are calling Jason Schmidt day-to-day with right hamstring tightness.

Schmidt was already feeling better before the end of the game, so there's a pretty good chance he'll make his next start. He allowed four runs -- three earned -- in four innings and homered before leaving Monday's game.Apr. 9 - 7:48 pm et

What's the deal with his velocity? I saw that he was topping out around 91 on his fastball. What's that about?

Any updates on Schmidt? Will he still be able to make his next scheduled start?

According to Rotoworld, he said he felt fine and would make his next start.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Jason Schmidt Injury?

Postby Peregrine » Tue Apr 17, 2007 9:20 pm

Anyone have anything more up to dat on Schmidt? Wish I would have heard this before I set my roster - weekly changes only :(

<<News: ESPN.com reports that Jason Schmidt underwent an MRI in his right arm Monday to see if an injury was the result of his decreased velocity. The results of the exam should be back by Wednesday. "It's just part of the process of trying to figure out what's going on," Dodgers manager Grady Little said. "They're exploring every avenue to find out what's making the biggest difference in his pitching this year."

Analysis: Schmidt is 1-2 with a 7.36 ERA with the Dodgers this season. He came over in free agency from San Francisco and he's off to another slow start. Don't panic just yet. Throughout his career, Schmidt has never had great success in April. His stats in that month (17-13, 4.46 ERA, 1.430 WHIP) indicate he's a slow starter.>>
