his fastball was said to top 100mph but then he is said to have gotten hurt. now they say he only throws 87, which is why he was left off the cuban national team.

i personally think this decline in velocity may have been made up to discourage interest from MLB and try and keep him from defecting.

i wouldnt draft him until i saw him pitch. he doesnt come with the same reputation as Contreras or el duque.

here is a quote from him when he first defected:

"I'll demonstrate (I'm healthy)," Rodriguez said in an interview Thursday on Miami Spanish-language radio station WQBA-AM. "I'm going to demonstrate that I can still throw 100. These are things that they invent to cut a little off the careers of some athletes."
