i disagree on Wang. i think hes good, but nothing great. it helps to get alot of run support there in NY but hes nothing special. i wouldnt rate him based on his 19 wins last season. he gave up 15 more H than IP last year. he doesnt K many with only 76 in 216 IP which means teams are making alot of contact on him. hes probually a decent #3 type pitcher, but i wouldnt rate him any higher than that.
as someone who doesnt like the Yankees i hope their horrible pitching continues even when Wang does return.
Mussina is old and past his prime and i dont see him being as effective as years past.
Pettitte is also old and past his prime, and i dont see him being as effective back in the AL.
even if Clemens does come back to the Yankees i dont see him being this great pitcher. he was good last time he pitched in NY 4 years ago, but nothing like he was in Houston(NL) and if he does come back to NY i dont see him being any better than he was in 2003.
the Yankees could still be OK with their pitching if they get the run support their lineup is capable of, but if they face other teams with good pitching i dont think the Yankees with their pitching can compete.

Mussina just came off a year where he had a 3.51 era, 1.11 WHIP, and a .241 batting average against. Thats his best year since 03.

Pettitte just came off a huge 2nd half to last season. 2.80 era, 1.23 WHIP, and .249 baa.

I concur. Probably the weakest argument I've read in a while. There are a ton of players that are "past their prime." Does Glavine has his best stuff this year? Prolly not. Do you want him on your roster? Oh heck yeah.

pettite will be very sorry for coming to the AL east as will clemens if he chooses to come and i was being sarcastic about wang i think that was his career year.

I agree with you, I dont think Wang is all that great. Being a Taiwan native it is hard for me to say it, but I think he was pretty lucky last year. He is probably a No 3 pitcher at best. He is definately not the ACE of the staff. But Yanks does have some good arm down in the minors. Phil Hughs is suppose to be ACE material and I think they will get Clemons. So I think they'd be fine at the end.
