trade offer

Postby chgiang » Tue May 07, 2002 11:08 pm

I made a trade offer of J. Jones, L. Hernandez, and T. Glavine for R. Oswalt, J. Damon, and J. Julio.
Do you think he will accept, is it a fair trade?

You are giving up a great pitcher, Glavine, for a great pitcher, Oswalt. Advantage slightly to Glavine.

That leaves:

L Hernandez, a starting pitcher who's had a great start, for Julio, a closer pitching great on a mediocre team,

Jaque Jones, who's had a great start but has been average lately, for J. Damon, who's having a great season.

It will come down to what his starting pitching needs are, but man for man, I wouldn't make this trade because of my doubts about Livian Hernandez, and Damon's worth over Jones.

But I hope he accepts so your team will be better!

Have to agree with Chicago. A lot of folks will go the other way, but I'd also give a slight edge to Glavine over Oswalt.

We were talking about Jones a couple days ago - I still think he's a playing time risk if he doesn't show he can hit lefties soon. Damon is a stud.

Hernandez and Julio are roughly equal, but depend entirely on a team's needs.

I'd give the advantage here to you, although I certainly don't think the offer is blatantly unfair. If the other guy's starters are struggling and he has other closer options, he might go for it; otherwise, you'll probably have to raise your offer slightly.

Good luck!
