Yeah... That av is one of my favorite, most-distracting avatars.

And to think, that's what Joe Mauer looks like under all that catchers equipment. :-b

Why do we play fantasy baseball? TOP 5

1. Because we sat on the bench in Little League
2. Because fantasy baseball leagues are the ONLY thing we can manage in our lives without interfernce from our spouses
3. Because Star Trek is not on TV anymore and it doesn't cut into the Star Trek convention season
4. Because we can tell chicks at the bar, "Hey, I won 1st place in my Yahoo Winners league".
5. Because we got too much time on our hands.
Nothing is idiotproof to a sufficiently motivated idiot

I've won a couple championships in the last few years in fantasy football and am only slightly annoyed by the one player who barely knows what he's doing. It'd be nice to have a full league of very experienced players, but the league is already tough enough as it is.

That being said, I AM that player that barely knows what he's doing as far as fantasy baseball is concerned. I'm in a Yahoo free league, and as you can see by my few posts, http://www.fantasybaseballcafe.com/foru ... p?t=269097 I'm learning as I go. I'm taking it very seriously and I think by the time 162 games are done, I should be ready to seriously compete in a money league next year.

To answer sublime1's question, I think we play fantasy baseball because 1. We enjoy baseball and 2. Our instinct to compete and crush our opposition takes over us. This year I will be the one getting crushed, but watch out for me next year! :-°

I started playing because I got tired of saying "I could do it better" when my Reds did something I didn't like......now I know I couldn't. Especially considering we all have the same comfinements whereas most teams in baseball aren't playing on a fair playing field. I'm not saying the Yankees should only be able to spend as much the Pirates, but I digress................

I also like being able to watch games not involving only the NL central and caring about what happens instead of just enjoying the game for the games sake. Although that would be enough for me should fantasy sports never come along(God forbid).
