Ok, this makes some sense now. Looks like the Rangers are concerned about Mench being 100%:

The A's have good pitching and zero hitting (not including Chavez) .......
I know it wouldn't make a lot of sense, but............
technically no, because the a's batters have probably the best eyes in the A.L. most of them are capable of doing damage but prefer just to get on base. and im certain ob % is a big part of batting. but the idea of arod, tex, and blalock in a Texas A's jersey intrigues me. my agent will call your agent

I actually had not read it until just a couple of days ago (when a friend got it for me for Christmas). I read it over these last couple of days. Intriguing book.
