Someone who posts here sometimes has a blog, and they had Matthews listed as undervalued. I've watched a few games now, and yes, it's early in the year, but the way the guy hits and fields, he looks really good. I know bad players can have streaks, but he actually is taking good at bats - it's not like he's getting two bloop singles to artificially raise his average. Anyone else seen him and want to chime in as to value, and whether he deserves a rostor spot?

I can't imagine him not deserving a roster spot unless you're in an 8 team MLB league or something.
He's still a good player.

Guy can hit and he's batting leadoff in the Angels lineup. He should steal about 20 bags and hit right arond .300

I agree with Yoda. Last year was his ceiling as far as I am concerned. He may maintain close to that ceiling for a year or two but won't go beyond it in my opinion. That said, the steroid scare/talk knocked him WAYYYYYYY down in most leagues. I had NO intention of targeting him at all, but wih how far he fell I got him in two of three leagues because the price was too good to pass up. So far pleasantly surprised. If he just comes close to last year's numbers he will be a steal for the end of draft/auction pickup.

Thanks for the replies. He is available in one league I'm in, a 12. I think people were really thinking he'd return to a .250 avg, and so expecting something around 300 would place his value a lot higher than some people seem to be pegging him. Interesting anyway.
